Choosing a Yeshiva

To choose the best Yeshiva for you, write to the Yeshivot below, and ask them about their study programs, educational goals, and religious outlook. Also, think about the study environment you will prefer:

• Do you find a larger or smaller Yeshiva more conducive to learning?
• Would you benefit most from a highly structured program or from one which has several hours per day of individual or Chevruta study?
• What level program fits your needs? Do you need a beginners, intermediate or advanced program?
• Which aspects of learning do you wish stressed in your study curriculum?
• Are you looking for a program which also offers vocational and professional training or volunteer work?
• Is the philosophy of the Yeshiva in tune with your personal outlook and approach to Judaism?
• How important is it to you that the atmosphere of the Yeshiva be warm and supportive in contrast to a more intellectual and academic environment?
• Do you prefer an English-speaking atmosphere, or would you rather learn in a predominantly Hebrew-speaking Yeshiva?
• Is the age group that the Yeshiva caters to suitable for you?
• Does the Yeshiva organizes trips to learn about the Land of Israel?
• Do students live in Yeshiva dorms or rented apartments?
